We asked Ojas Gupta, a Georgia Tech BME student who is conducting undergraduate research under the mentorship of Spencer Hayes, about his life and experience working with us since the Fall of 2024.
What excites you the most about conducting research in the Quiroz Lab?
Learning about how biology works on the molecular level has always fascinated me. Within this scope, the study of IDPs and related proteins is one of the most novel and unique scientific fields. The Quiroz lab has allowed me to learn about several fields ranging from synthetic biology, cell physiology, and disease pathology. In addition, I appreciate how the lab environment is very welcoming, facilitating creative thinking skills and my development as a researcher.
When you are not studying or doing research, what do you like to do?
I enjoy exploring new music and playing what I can on the piano or guitar. I would like to find more time to be outdoors, either camping, hiking, or just having a picnic. I also enjoy playing and watching basketball and football. Besides that, I am always trying new recipes, TV shows, Bollywood movies, and other activities with my friends.
