We are excited to announce that Mariell Pascual has joined our lab as Research Specialist. Check out the short interview below to learn more about Mariell’s research experience and diverse interests.
What drove you to the Quiroz Lab?
My last semester of undergrad in Biomedical Engineering, I gained experience working in a cell tissue lab and I knew then that I wanted to learn and be part of the growing research field. When I learned about the Quiroz Lab, I saw a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and acquire new skills, and to immerse myself in challenging yet interesting fields of protein engineering and self-assembling biological systems. The Quiroz lab values creativity, critical thinking, team work, and good lab culture, which is why I’m so excited to be part of an exceptional group.
When you are not doing research, what do you like to do?
I enjoy playing tennis, working out, cooking and trying new recipes. Also, I’ve been into hiking and my goal is to visit all the National Parks in the US. So far I’ve gone to 4 and looking forward to visiting more. Also, recently, I’ve found a new love for embroidering, crocheting, and painting.
